The Super Mario Run App has got the attention of millions of people, and not only old-school Mario fans. This was a huge bet not only on the Nintendo side that is entering the mobile games for the first time, as on the Apple side who has been promoting this game, creating an enormous buzz around it since this is exclusive to the Apple App Store.
With powerful graphics and all the characters that are present in the Super Mario games, there’s nothing you’ll be missing. However, there’s a catch. You’ll need to pay a fee if you want to play the complete game.
App Interface / Usability:
The Super Mario Run App has three different playing modes. Two of them – the World Tour and Toad Rally, can be played using only one hand. According to the developers, this allows the gamers to keep playing Mario while they’re eating a hamburger.
This is a huge step for Nintendo since when you’re playing on a Wii controller, you actually need the two hands and have multiple buttons to use. However, when playing the Super Mario Run App, you just need to tap to jump, which makes it very easy to play. You can also decide on how higher you want to jump and, for this, all you need to do is to make a longer press. Besides, the button is most of the screen so you won’t miss it.
Despite most App games with one single button to jump are usually bad, this isn’t the case of the Super Mario Run App. And this is because this game has a lot of feels. Mario has different flips and jumps, and he can also slide down vertical blocks. Besides, different mechanisms to reverse, halt and stall were added to the game with bubbles to take you backward, backflip blocks, stop blocks, special wraparound levels, and even doors on ghost levels.
When playing the Super Mario Run App you’ll also have a timer that will kill you if it runs out.
The Super Mario Run App game is divided into three different modes, despite the World Tour clearly dominates the game:
#1: World Tour
The World Tour is divided into different worlds. When you reach the end of each world, you’ll get the Bowzer’s castle boss, as a typical Mario game.
#2: Toad Rally
This is a more social and unconventional game mode. When you’re playing the Toad Rally, your goal is to beat other players’ performances. You’ll see the ghost of the other player when you’re playing and you’ll need to get more coins and outperform your rival, within the time required.
#3: Kingdom Builder
In this mode, you have the chance to build your own kingdom by spending the rewards you won on the two previous modes. You can start by building your kingdom and you can also get new buildings as well as different decorations. Some of the buildings can offer you some goodies. And if you manage to make some Toads impressed with your kingdom, they will live in your kingdom. This wouldn’t be much but if you manage to get the same color ones, you’ll be able to unlock other stuff.
When you download the Super Mario Run App, you’ll have a limited version of the app. You’ll only access the three first levels of the World Tour. In order to get the complete game, you’ll need to pay $9.99.
